West Ham fans have taken to Twitter to react after the club announced that Ajibola Alese had signed a new contract at the London Stadium.

The Academy of Football graduate has penned a new deal until 2023, which includes the option of an additional season for the Hammers prodigy.

Alese – who has been with the Irons since he was seven – is currently on loan at League Two outfit Cambridge United, but it’s clear West Ham have been keeping an eye on him.

The 20-year-old earned more first-team experience last season too, spending time with Accrington Stanley where he made 15 appearances.

The England Under-20 international has already made a first-team appearance for West Ham, playing against Hull City in the Carabao Cup earlier this season.

As West Ham’s announcement states, he made an impressive two tackles, two clearances and three interceptions in the 5-1 win.

Additionally, Alese has captained England’s Under-16 side – he appears to be a fine prospect with a mature head on his shoulders.
