Newcastle fans have taken to Twitter to react after Josh Maja’s goal for Fulham against Tottenham was disallowed last night.

The ex-Sunderland striker thought he’d slammed in a second-half equaliser.

However, Davinson Sanchez’s clearance hit Mario Lemina’s arm in the build-up, which led to VAR disallowing the goal in the 63rd minute.

The decision was a tremendously harsh one, and hopefully, Fulham aren’t relegated as a result of it.

However, as you might expect, Newcastle fans were happy to see their relegation rivals suffer a bit of misfortunate, as it boosted their survival hopes.

Had Maja’s goal stood and the game ended 1-1, Fulham would’ve been just two points behind the Magpies with 11 games to go.

We shouldn’t even be mentioning Newcastle in a relegation battle.

Steve Bruce has sleepwalked his way into a fight for survival.

The bottom three – Fulham, West Brom and Sheffield United – looked to be set in stone for a while, but complacency has crept into St James’ Park.

The Baggies are currently nine points behind the Magpies, and have played a game more.
