Liverpool fans have taken to Twitter in delight after hearing what Thiago Alcântara did to Richarlison when the Everton man messaged him.

The £40 million Toffees forward nearly snapped Thiago’s leg in half towards the end of the 2-2 draw at Goodison Park back in October.

It was a horrible challenge, and one that saw Richarlison rightly sent off, but also led to Thiago spending months on the sidelines.

Speaking on a YouTube show, the Brazilian revealed that he tried to apologise to Liverpool’s No.6, but was blanked by the Spaniard.

Richarlison said: “The last game I made that challenge on Thiago and got sent off. My goodness. Then I went on Instagram to apologise. He only saw it. I said ‘I’m going to delete this message too, since he doesn’t want to reply’.

“Then I went there and deleted it. He didn’t answer, no. Then there was the derby now, at their home, he didn’t look at my face, I didn’t look at him, either. The game goes on. He ignored the pigeon.”

Can you blame Thiago?

It was one of the 29-year-old’s first few games in England, and he almost had his leg broken by a completely wild, unnecessary and malicious lunge.

You might debate its malice, but just look at the picture below – Richarlison has been utterly careless there, and surely knew he was about to cause harm.

The fact Everton’s No.7 deleted his apology after it was ignored is also pretty strange – why not just leave it there and be the bigger man?

Thiago had every right to ignore Richarlison – we would’ve done the same if someone thrust their studs into our kneecap.

Let’s see what the Liverpool fans on Twitter have been saying about the Everton attacker’s comments…
