Everton fans have taken to Twitter to react after the club announced that Marcel Brands had signed a new three-year contract at Goodison Park.
Since arriving on Merseyside in June 2018, the Sporting Director has made a number of fantastic signings for the Toffees.
Brands has helped bring the likes of James Rodriguez, Abdoulaye Doucoure and Lucas Digne to Goodison Park, all for reasonable fees.
In the case of Rodriguez, he was free!
Of course, there have been a few misses, such as Alex Iwobi for example.
However, the Dutchman has done a good job overall.
The former PSV Eindhoven Director is clearly loved by Bill Kenwright and Farhad Moshiri.
In the official announcement, Kenwright revealed that it took just one play of Z cars to reach an agreement – very straightforward negotiations indeed!
Brands was also appointed onto the club’s board in January 2019, just months after his appointing as Sporting Director.
On that note, he clearly hit the ground running and impressed the right people at Everton.
Alongside an elite manager in Carlo Ancelotti, and with a new stadium on the way, Brands should be part of a special period in Everton’s history.
