‘Yes please, I beg’: Some Aston Villa fans excited by transfer report

Aston Villa fans are firmly behind a move for Arsenal goalkeeper Emi Martinez.

The Independent suggest that Villa are keen on Martinez, who Arsenal may choose to cash in on this summer.

Martinez has actually impressed at Arsenal recently, but the Gunners need to raise funds.

And Villa fans are excited by links with the Argentine, as they feel he could be an upgrade on what they have.

Villa started last campaign with Tom Heaton in goal, and he performed well, but he suffered a severe injury which had led to the claret and blues seeking a new number one.

Both Pepe Reina and Orjan Nyland did not look totally convincing in Villa’s goal, and Martinez would surely be a more reliable option.

Martinez has barely put a foot wrong in Arsenal’s goal since coming in for Bernd Leno, with his performances catching the eye.

And there now remains a question mark over whether Arsenal would be willing to sanction the sale of their goalkeeper, after his excellent showing in the Community Shield final.
