Steven Gerrard’s Rangers and John Kennedy’s Celtic will face each other at Ibrox next weekend.
Rangers will take on bitter Old Firm rivals Celtic at Ibrox in the Scottish Cup next weekend.
There has already been a feisty build-up to the game, with Celtic interim-manager Kennedy complaining about the Rangers ‘Covid Five’ being eligible to play against the Hoops, and Gerrard subsequently hitting back at him.
There was yet more drama yesterday when news broke that Bobby Madden will be the referee for the tie.
As reported by The Glasgow Evening Times, Madden will take charge of the Scottish Cup game between Rangers and Celtic.
This is the second time this season that Madden will be the referee for an Old Firm fixture.
Back in January 2021, Madden was the referee. It was a controversial game in which Nir Bitton was sent off for Celtic. There was another incident where he appeared to pull Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos away during a confrontation.
Some Rangers and Celtic fans have given their take on the announcement that Madden will be the referee for the match next weekend.
