Garry Monk has told the Examiner that he wants Newcastle United winger Jacob Murphy with him again at Sheffield Wednesday next season.
Murphy has spent this campaign on loan at Wednesday from Newcastle, and he has enjoyed a productive spell at Hillsborough.
The rapid winger has been a regular starter for the Owls, where he has become one of Monk’s side’s key attackers.
Murphy has scored seven goals and claimed four assists in 36 Championship games this term.
And Monk now says that he wants to land the Newcastle winger on a longer-term deal.
“I’ve been delighted with him,” Monk said.
“I’ve said if there is an opportunity to bring him back next year, we don’t know yet because we’re not even concentrating on that, but if there was then he’s the type of player I want to work with.
“He’s improving and has improved throughout the season.

“If the opportunity is there (bring him back) then yes, but we want to concentrate on these games and then take care of that side of it afterwards.”
Murphy appears to have no future at Newcastle, so if Wednesday do make an offer, Steve Bruce’s side will surely not stand in his way.
Murphy has spent the last 18 months away from Newcastle, and with the likes of Allan Saint-Maximin and Miguel Almiron impressing at St. James’ Park, there does not appear to be any room for him in the Magpies’ squad.
