‘Yes it is’: Angry Ian Wright spotted what Kulu did during Spurs defeat

Ian Wright has claimed that Dejan Kulusevski should’ve been sent off for Tottenham Hotspur this afternoon.

Tottenham slumped to a 1-0 defeat at home to Brighton & Hove Albion.

In doing so, they have handed the impetus to Arsenal to wrestle control of the race for Champions League qualification once again.

It was an awful performance by a Spurs outfit that had won their four last four Premier League outings prior to today.

A last-minute goal from Leandro Trossard was enough to undo the North Londoners, but they were fortunate to keep all 11 men on the field.

Kulusevski aimed an elbow at his opponent during a sluggish first-half performance, though he didn’t make much contact.

Nevertheless, a frustrated Wright is certain that it should’ve resulted in a red card.

He told Premier League Productions: “I think this is…..he’s elbowed him! Look, watch. Yes it is [a red card]. It’s dangerous play. It’s violent conduct.”

Is he Wright?

Well, possibly.

It’s one of them where the referee would’ve found it difficult to keep Kulusevski on the pitch had it gone to VAR, or had Craig Pawson consulted a pitchside monitor.

The reason it escaped attention of the officials is because the Seagulls player didn’t make a big deal of it, largely because the contact was minimal.

So yes, Wright is correct in saying that the player was certainly fortunate to stay on the field.

If there was contact, it’s a straight red card and Tottenham would’ve been missing one of their star players of 2022 for a few games, at a time where they need everybody available every single week.
