Erik Lamela has urged Ryan Mason to ‘enjoy it’ on Instagram after Antonio Conte asked him to be part of Tottenham’s first-team coaching staff.

Last season, Mason spent a small stint on the Tottenham touchline following Jose Mourinho’s sacking, and in between, he has spent time working with the club’s younger age groups.

But the 30-year-old, as he posted on his IG, was asked by the club’s new manager to be part of the first-team set-up.

Mason expressed his delight at this call and the opportunity he has been provided by the Italian.

Lamela, who left Spurs for Sevilla in the summer, worked under Mason, and played alongside him, during his time in North London.

He responded to Mason’s IG message and Conte’s decision by simply posting in the comments section: “Yes, Ryan. Let’s go. Enjoy it.”

It’s a popular call from Conte to add Mason to his coaching set-up and it’s the push that he deserves.

Even though he has many, many years to build his managerial career and take to the hot seat, he will learn a lot under Conte’s stewardship.

It will be interesting to see how much input the former midfielder does actually have and whether he will push for a few of the younger players to be given a chance.

The fact that Mason is now on that touchline, it wouldn’t be a surprise if he is providing a few positive words about the young lads, with who he has just worked alongside.
