Rafael Benitez would be keen on a return to Newcastle United if a takeover happens, Guillem Balague has said.
Benitez is still revered at St. James’ Park, and his return has been talked up as a possibility for a considerable amount of time. .
Now Balague has suggested, while speaking to his Youtube channel, that if Newcastle do eventually have new owners in charge and they want the Spanish manager, he would be open to coming back to Tyneside.
“I’d say he would like to come to the Premier League,” Balague explained.
“He’s doing a good job in China, no doubt about that. But he cannot compete, as he cannot get the best Chinese players.
“He would love to come to the Premier League.

“My answer would be ‘yes’, if the takeover takes place – and if it’s the same people taking over the club and still want him he would say yes to the possibility of going back to Newcastle as there is still unfinished business there.”
If Benitez, who is on a £230,000-a-week contract in China (Chronicle), did return to Newcastle then it would be a widely celebrated move.
However, Magpies fans will know not to get too excited over the latest claims, as their takeover has proven hugely problematic.
Newcastle have seen numerous potential buyers come and go, with Mike Ashley still in charge currently.
Steve Bruce has led Newcastle into 15th place so far this season, but his style of play continues to earn criticism from most Magpies supporters.
