Gary Lineker has taken to Twitter to react after Burnley announced that Vincent Kompany had replaced Sean Dyche at Turf Moor.
What’s the story?
Well, the BBC Match of the Day host sounds optimistic about Burnley’s appointment, as he called the Belgian a “natural born leader” and wished him all the best in Lancashire.
However, in response to a comment from Rodney Marsh, Lineker did concede that Kompany has a “big challenge” on his hands with the Clarets.
You can see what the 61-year-old wrote on Twitter in full below.
Make no mistake about it, this is a huge task for Kompany.
The 36-year-old has only had one role so far in his managerial career, which was with Anderlecht in Belgium.
Now, the Manchester City – and Premier League – icon has ditched that job for a crack at life managing Burnley, who are in need of a pickup after suffering relegation last season.
Kompany has overseen 95 games in management so far, winning 43 of those outings, while losing just 22.
The Belgian has also watched his side score 178 goals in those 95 games, so he doesn’t appear to be someone who will adopt a defensive approach.
Vincent Kompany has a tough job

Had Kompany taken charge of what Dyche left behind, the 36-year-old would still have his work cut out.
However, the Belgian must somehow pick the pieces up at Burnley following the departures of key players such as James Tarkowski, Ben Mee, Aaron Lennon, Dale Stephens, Erik Pieters and Phil Bardsley.
The likes of Dwight McNeil and Josh Brownhill – who is wanted by West Ham – will also surely be leaving Turf Moor.

So, Kompany must somehow reinvigorate those left at Turf Moor, while also bringing in a number of fresh faces to replace those who have departed.
In addition to implementing his own style, on a group who have been wedded to Dyche’s backs-against-the-wall style for many years now, Kompany certainly has a tough task on his hands.
