The American full-back joined Newcastle in the summer from Tottenham, and has had a bright start to his career on Tyneside
Newcastle’s DeAndre Yedlin has hailed the impact United States manager Jurgen Klinsmann has had on his career, speaking to The Chronicle.
The defender has enjoyed a positive start to his career at St James’ Park, making a permanent move to the North East from Tottenham, having spent last season on loan at rivals Sunderland.

Despite only being 23-years-old, Yedlin has 40 caps for his country and has been talking about how big an influence his national manager has been on his career.
“Jurgen [Klinsmann] has been huge in the whole movement of my career,” Yedlin told The Chronicle.
“It’s been my goal since I was a kid to play over here. Jurgen has shown so much trust in me.
“Even when I was at Tottenham and I wasn’t playing or in the squad, he was calling me up to camps so I could get game time. He has been instrumental in my development as a player.”
The German gave the right back his USA debut in 2014 when he was playing for Seattle Sounders, and has continued to select him even during periods of time when he was not getting first team action at Klinsmann’s former club Tottenham.
Sunderland’s DeAndre Yedlin
Yedlin started to make his name in English football at Sunderland last season, where he spent a year on loan, but he crossed the North East divide in the summer, joining Rafael Benitez at Newcastle, despite reported interest from the Black Cats to bring him back to the Stadium of Light.
The youngster will now be continuing his development at Newcastle, where he has made a bright start, including scoring his first in English football, and if the American continues to impress in black and white, they might have to thank Klinsmann for his involvement in Yedlin’s career.
