Newcastle United have arguably the strongest squad in the Championship.
Newcastle United’s DeAndre Yedlin in action
Magpies right-back DeAndre Yedlin spoke to the Shields Gazette ahead of his side’s home game against Bristol City tomorrow and expressed his happiness at seeing Vurnon Anita back available for selection, highlighting how he has learned a lot from the Dutchman during his time at St James’ Park.
The 23-year-old American moved to Tyneside from Tottenham Hotspur in the summer, and has since alternated with Anita in the right-back position for Rafa Benitez, but he has established himself as the Spaniard’s first choice during the absence of the injured former Ajax man.
And Yedlin explained to the Shields Gazette how having a player of Anita’s quality back in the fold can only be a good thing for Newcastle, suggesting that he has learned a lot from his teammate:
“It’s good to have Vurnon back because he’s a key player for the team. I think I’m developing a lot. I’m learning a lot of new things from Rafa, Vurnon and (Paul) Dummett. It’s been good. Everybody is very helpful, and I think I’m progressing well.”

The Magpies currently hold a one point advantage over second placed Brighton & Hove Albion in the Championship table, and the two sides will meet at the Amex Stadium on Tuesday night, in a game that could have huge ramifications as far as the title race is concerned.
Next up on the agenda for Newcastle though is their home game against Lee Johnson’s Bristol City, and only a win will do if they are to guarantee their place at the summit as they head into next week’s clash with the Seagulls.
