Kalvin Phillips has taken to his Instagram story to react to the news that Tyler Roberts has signed a new contract with Leeds.

Leeds United’s official Twitter account confirmed the breaking news on Wednesday afternoon, with the Welshman currently on international duty where he is preparing for Euro 2020.

The versatile attacker has penned a new three-year deal with the Yorkshire giants, who finished the recently concluded campaign in the Premier League’s top-ten.

Ahead of Euro 2020, this is positive news for Roberts, and if Wales and England do well, then his path may just cross his club teammates, Phillips.

But before then, the ‘Yorkshire Pirlo’ wrote the following message on his Instagram story after the news broke about Roberts: “Yeah, Yeah. My Lil bro. So happy for you man. Congrats.”

Roberts didn’t perhaps play the number of minutes he would have wanted this season, but during the second half of the campaign, his game time did increase.

The higher Leeds step up, the more they dip into the transfer market, the harder it becomes for Roberts to establish himself as a first-team regular.

But this contract extension is a sign that Marcelo Bielsa has full faith in the former West Brom academy product.

And given how the likes of Stuart Dallas, Phillips, Patrick Bamford and Luke Ayling have improved in Leeds colours, there’s no reason why Roberts cannot join them and the heights they are hitting.
