Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has told Sky Sports that Pierre Emerick Aubameyang actually played with illness last night.
Aubameyang scored twice in Arsenal’s 3-0 win over Newcastle United, but had to be withdrawn late on.
And Arteta revealed that the striker was feeling under the weather, but played anyway.
“Yeah, he had to go in so we had to change it,” he said, when asked if Aubameyang was ill by a Sky reporter.
Arteta later went on to share with Football London that Aubameyang’s problem was a stomach bug.
The Gabonese striker would have been feeling even more sick in the first-half, when he missed an absolute sitter to put Arsenal in-front.
However, he found his shooting boots again in the second-half and notched a brace.

Aubameyang’s first goal was well finished over Karl Darlow from close range, before he scored a tap-in from Cedric’s cut-back.
Arsenal will hope that the goals help restore Aubameyang back to his best, after what has been a slow start to the campaign from him.
“I thought [Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang] had two or three really big chances in the first half which he didn’t score. But those goals today will give him good confidence so that’s good for the team,” Arteta added.
Arsenal’s win means that they are now in 10th place in the Premier League table.
