Arsenal striker Pierre Emerick Aubameyang has suggested to Sky Sports that he feels that fooled Leeds United goalkeeper Illan Meslier at the weekend.
Aubameyang scored a hat-trick for Arsenal in their 4-2 victory over Leeds on Sunday, with the Gunners forward returning to his top form.
Aubameyang’s first goal was particularly impressive, as he backed two Leeds defenders into their own box, before whipping a shot in at the near post.
Meslier was criticised for conceding at the time, but Aubameyang feels that his own skill helped to wrong-foot the young Leeds stopper.
“Yeah, I think sometimes you have to change the way you shoot and I think the goalkeeper was expecting me to shoot on his left, but I changed a little bit and it was a good goal,” Aubameyang said, when asked if he felt he had fooled the Leeds man.
Aubameyang’s hat-trick was actually his first in the Premier League for Arsenal.

The hope for the Gunners is that Aubameyang’s performance can serve as a boost to the £56 million striker’s confidence (BBC Sport), which has appeared low at times this term.
Aubameyang has been way short of his best, but he proved just what a brilliant finisher he was at the weekend.
Arsenal have now moved above Leeds and back into the top half of the Premier League table after their latest victory.
