Tottenham Hotspur have made something of a surprise move by bringing in Yaya Toure for an informal coaching role in their youth setup.
The Athletic report that Toure will head to Hotspur Way for two days a week, working alongside academy coaches Dean Rastrick and Chris Powell.
Antonio Conte was allegedly only informed on Wednesday, with Toure coming in to meet staff and introduce himself.
It’s understood that some of Toure’s representatives are close to Tottenham and an agreement has been struck for the Ivorian to learn his craft.
Toure wants to gain as much experience as possible and has coached in Russia, Ukraine and even with Wales.
Toure to Tottenham feels very Football Manager-esque
Hot on the heels of Claudio Taffarel joining the Liverpool coaching staff, we now have another move that seems like it’s from a Football Manager save.
You know the drill, bringing big-name players as coaches no matter how good they are just to assemble a glittering coaching staff.

Toure may not land a full-time job at Tottenham, but this is still a great opportunity for Tottenham’s young players.
The likes of Alfie Devine and Nile John can absolutely learn a thing or two from a Premier League and Champions League winner.
Dele Alli even compared himself to Toure back in 2015 and is in need of a spark to save his Tottenham career.
Even just seeing Toure around Hotspur Way would reignite Alli, and he can always ask for pointers.
This is an interesting move from Tottenham; it may not last very long, but Toure has a foot in the door and may now look to land a permanent role in North London.
