One of the players Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool reportedly wanted to sign in the summer transfer window was Ibrahim Sangare, but he moved to Steve Cooper’s Nottingham Forest instead.

And, now, Morgan Gibbs-White’s comments on his Nottingham Forest teammate show just the kind of player Liverpool missed out on.

Gibbs-White, who can operate as an attacking midfielder or as a winger, has said that Ibrahim Sangare is like the second coming of Yaya Toure.

Toure is one of the best midfielders of all time who starred for Barcelona and Manchester City.

Gibbs-White has outlined the attributes that make 25-year-old Ivory Coast international defensive midfielder Sangare.

The attacker said about Sangare on the Premier League’s YouTube channel: “We played against PSV in a pre-season game, and we played against Sangare.

“He is a problem. I am talking Yaya Toure 2.0.

“It’s just his athletic ability, so strong, he is explosive, he can get past people, but also, on the ball, you wouldn’t think it, but he is technically very strong.”

Liverpool were keen on Ibrahim Sangare

Liverpool were linked with a move for Ibrahim Sangare in the summer transfer window.

On August 13, ESPN Netherlands reported that Liverpool were competing with Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain for Sangare.

The report added that there was a release clause of €37 million (£32 million) in Sangare’s contract at PSV.

Liverpool decided against paying that sum.

Forest secured the services of the Ivory Coast international defensive midfielder on the final day of the summer transfer window.

The 25-year-old has made three appearances in the Premier League for the Reds so far this season.
