Some Liverpool fans have taken to Twitter to give their reaction to Jurgen Klopp’s comments about Nathaniel Phillips.
In his pre-match press conference on Friday ahead of the Premier League game against Southampton at Anfield on Saturday evening, Liverpool manager Klopp said that Phillips is fit and available.
The 24-year-old central defender missed the last two matches with a hamstring injury.
However, the English defender has been training with the first team and was actually named in the starting lineup against Manchester United before the Premier League game at Old Trafford got postponed.
Klopp said, as quoted on Liverpool’s official website: “Yes, yes, the week helped him for sure. Absolutely. Yes, he was fit yesterday.”
Phillips being fit is a huge boost to Liverpool’s chances of winning against Southampton.
The 24-year-old has got his chance this season due to injuries to the likes of Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez and Joel Matip.

The central defender has made 10 starts and two substitute appearances in the Premier League and played thrice in the Champions League for Liverpool this season.
Phillips being fit against Southampton will also allow Fabinho to play in midfield. The Brazilian has played much of the season in central defence.
