Everton saw the return of Yannick Bolasie yesterday after Aston Villa cancelled his loan.

Everton winger Yannick Bolasie left Aston Villa on Monday and his most recent Instagram post now looks pretty ironic.

Cast your minds back to the first week in January and it was Tammy Abraham, not Bolasie, who was expected to quit Aston Villa.

The Democratic Republic of Congo star, who joined the Villans on a season-long loan from Everton last summer, posted a message on the popular social media website.

In it, Bolasie posted a photo of he and Abraham during Villa training, alongside the caption: “My friend don’t gooo any where stay here don’t go anywhere.”

Little did he know at the time that Abraham would last longer than him in the West Midlands after Aston Villa boss Dean Smith sent the struggling star – earning £70,000 per week [Birmingham Mail] – back to Goodison Park.

It wasn’t a productive spell at Villa Park for the former Crystal Palace livewire, who looked an unbelievable coup on paper, but two goals and four assists in the Championship suggest otherwise.
