Yannick Bolasie has taken to Instagram to thank Aston Villa for taking him onboard during the first half of the campaign and helping him get back to ‘full fitness’ following his return to Everton.

The 29-year-old joined the Championship side on a season-long loan in the summer, but that was cut short on Monday when he made an early return to his parent club, as confirmed by the club on their official Twitter account.

Following his departure, he sent this passionate message to the Villa Park faithful on his personal Instagram account and wished them all the ‘success’ in their promotion push for the second half of the campaign.

Bolasie was initially brought to the club by Steve Bruce, but he was sacked in October and replaced by Brentford boss Dean Smith.

Under Bruce, Bolasie didn’t start a single game as he tried to build up his fitness following his return from a long-term injury, but he did begin to earn regular starts under Smith.

He competed with the likes of Albert Adomah, Jonathan Kodjia and Anwar El Ghazi for a starting spot – academy product Andre Green returned to the club this month from his own loan spell at Portsmouth.

During his time at the club, the DR Congo international scored two goals and provided five assists for his teammates, but couldn’t produce high-quality performances on a consistent basis.

During his last game for the Midlands outfit, their 2-2 draw at home to Hull City [BBC Sport], he was substituted in the second half after failing to have any sort of impact on the flanks.

Now, he will be returning to Goodison Park and hoping he can possibly break his way into Marco Silva’s team, who are currently sitting outside of the top 10 in the Premier League table.
