Everton were beaten 1-0 by Liverpool in the Merseyside derby last night.

Yannick Bolasie has posted that Everton were ‘unbelievably unlucky’ after losing in the Merseyside derby yesterday.

Everton were beaten in injury time, when Sadio Mane netted from close range for Liverpool.

The Reds’ goal came about after a tame Daniel Sturridge shot came back off the post, and rebounded into Mane’s path.

The former Southampton man could not miss from close range, leaving Everton players and supporters heartbroken.

The injured Bolasie could not hide the disappointment he felt for his Toffees teammates, but Everton fans did not agree with his message.

Everton supporters argued that, even though Liverpool’s goal had come late, there was nothing ‘unlucky’ about it – as their side’s defending was so poor.

Everton’s defeat to Liverpool leaves them 14 points behind their Merseyside rivals in the Premier League standings.

The Toffees have won just two of their last 12 matches, with Ronald Koeman’s side’s form worryingly poor.
