England lost to Italy in the Euro 2020 final, but West Ham United star Declan Rice can be very proud with his performance.

The Three Lions took a stunning early lead through Luke Shaw, but were pegged back by Leonardo Bonucci’s second-half leveller.

The game went all the way to penalties, with Gianluigi Donnarumma’s save from Bukayo Saka handing Italy the trophy at Wembley.

England players were understandably gutted with the defeat, coming so close to glory but just being edged out on penalties.

One player who really excelled in a fine first-half England display was Declan Rice as the West Ham star took the game by the scruff of the neck.

Rice read the game brilliantly, halting Italy attacks whilst showing the drive and skill to get forward, going on a couple of runs past Italy players.

Some maybe though that Rice was just a ‘water carrier’, but he showed excellent technique and dribbling too before being substituted for Jordan Henderson in the second half.

Former Crystal Palace and Everton winger Yannick Bolasie was hugely impressed with Rice, taking to Twitter to rave about his performance.

Bolasie suggested that Rice looked ‘top notch’ every time he was in possession against Italy, branding him a ‘baller’ in the process.
