Everton winger Yannick Bolasie has told The Liverpool Echo that Ademola Lookman will play his role for the team this season.

Lookman is one of the best and most promising young attacking players in England.

However, the 19-year-old, who can operate as a winger or as a forward, has struggled for playing time for Everton so far this season.

The England Under-21 international made three starts in the Premier League for the Toffees last season following his move from Charlton Athletic in the January transfer window for a free reported by The Mirror to be worth £11 million.

It must be quite frustrating for Lookman not to be playing competitive football at the moment, especially given his encouraging performances for the Merseyside outfit during the second half of the 2016-17 campaign.

According to The Mirror, Premier League rivals Tottenham Hotspur and Crystal Palace are interested in signing the youngster in the January transfer window.

Bolasie, who joined Everton from Palace in the summer of 2016 for a transfer fee reported by BBC Sport to be worth £25 million, has backed Lookman to turn on the style for Ronald Koeman’s side as the season progresses.

“I would be very surprised if he wasn’t in the team doing well at some point this season – he studies the games well and looks at how he can make an impact and I’m really looking forward to seeing him play,” Bolasie told The Liverpool Echo. “When his chance comes, he needs to be ready to take it and I’m sure he will.”
