After being touted heavily with a loan exit to a Championship club earlier in the week, Bournemouth striker Yann Kermorgant has turned the tables to sign a new contract with the Premier League new boys.
As reported by HITC Sport on Tuesday, a host of clubs from England’s second tier had made contact with Bournemouth with a view to taking the front-man on loan. Among the interested parties were believed to be Derby County, Wolverhampton Wanderers, Cardiff City, Sheffield Wednesday and Hull City.
Kermorgant played a starring role in Bournemouth’s promotion from the Championship last season, but has been left on the periphery somewhat since their Premier League adventure kicked off.
He is yet to start a game in the top flight, and has appeared off the bench just once on the opening day of the season. Other than that, the 33-year-old has had to make do with a solitary start in the first round of the Capital One cup.
However following his new two-year extension with the Cherries, it seems like the veteran still has a part to play in Eddie Howe’s plans as they look to strengthen their fight against the drop.
