Yanis Bensaber was hoping to earn a contract at Scottish Premiership outfit Rangers during a trial from Ligue 1 runners-up LOSC Lille.

Five months on, Yanis Bensaber has finally explained why he didn’t sign for Rangers after a brief trial period at the start of the summer.
Back in May, the Lille youngster was named in the starting XI for an academy clash against Corby Athletic. With the number 11 on his back, the 19-year-old forward even got himself on the scoresheet in a game which ended all square at 3-3.
But amid another summer of substantial change at Ibrox, with countless ins and outs, the former France U16 star disappeared as quickly as he arrived.
Now, we know why.
“(The move) did not happen. I was still under contract with Lille, it was complicated,” Bensaber told Le Dauphine.
Bensaber became a free agent soon after but it remains a mystery why Rangers didn’t return for him once Lille were out of the picture.
These days, the teenager is attempting to make a name for himself at Annecy. And if Bensaber really had the potential to play for Rangers, would he have just signed for an amateur club based in the fourth tier of French football?
Scoring against Corby Athletic isn’t exactly the hallmark of quality after all.
