Reading’s Yakou Meite was heavily linked with leaving the club in January.

Reading forward Yakou Meite has told reporters how he intends on staying at the club beyond the summer despite almost returning to France during the January transfer window, Reading Chronicle report.
“Of course I want to be here. This is my first full season. I didn’t play a lot before this year.” Meite explained.
“We will see what happens, but at the moment I’m happy here. I’ve forgotten about what happened in January, I’m a Reading player and that’s my priority.”
Meite almost returned to France on deadline day in January. Football.London reported how the 23-year-old was set to join Amiens SC in the French top-flight on loan with the view of a permanent transfer.
The reports in January came as a shock as Meite was leading Reading’s scoring charts at the time. Despite now playing as more of a wide player, he still tops the Royals scoring charts with nine goals this term.
Jose Gomes arrived as manager in January, succeeding the sacked Paul Clement, and went about making space on the wage bill with players such as Marc McNulty being moved out.

Meite staying on now appears to be a real stroke of luck for Reading as the talented Ivory Coast forward has had a big say in Reading’s fight for Championship survival over the past month or so.
He netted during key narrow wins over Wigan Athletic and Preston North End, and now it seems he has set his sights on remaining at the Madejski Stadium beyond the summer.
Reading have picked up 10 points in their last five games and now sit four points above Rotherham United and the drop zone with seven games remaining.
