An Ibrox regular has signed a new contract at Rangers tonight.

Rangers have announced that defender Borna Barisic has signed a new deal at the club that commits him to Ibrox until the summer of 2024.

The first-choice left-back has been one of the better performers for the Gers this season, making 30 appearances and assisting an impressing 14 times from the flank (Transfermarkt).

Signed by Steven Gerrard in the summer of 2018, he’s also become something of a cult favourite with supporters. He has his own song which is now heard at almost every Rangers game.

The Ibrox boss was clearly thrilled to get this bit of business completed, telling rangers.co.uk: “I’m delighted that Borna has committed his future to Rangers.

“I speak to Borna a lot, so I know that he is very happy at the club and is enjoying his football right now.

“He has the support of the fans because of his performances on the pitch and we hope that continues for a long time at Rangers.”

It’s been a good day for Rangers supporters, with news emerging that attacking midfielder Ianis Hagi is on the verge of signing for the club (BBC Scotland).

Sporting Director Ross Wilson and Gerrard are certainly putting a smile on their faces.

For Barisic it’ll all be about building on an impressive season so far. Nothing has been won by the Ibrox side yet and it’ll be players like the Croatian that will help drive them towards trophies.
