Wilshere was substituted in the 68th minute of the Cherries’ 4-0 hammering by the Sky Blues over the weekend.

Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe has leapt to the defence of Jack Wilshere, who faltered as the club succumbed to 4-0 Premier League defeat at the hands of Manchester City, as reported by the Metro.
Wilshere, on loan from Arsenal, was at fault for City’s breakthrough, giving away a foul just outside the penalty area, which allowed Kevin De Bruyne to smash in from the resulting free kick.
The 24-year-old also gave away possession throughout the visit to the Etihad Stadium, and was substituted in the the 68th minute.

While Wilshere may have had an afternoon to forget, Cherries boss Howe told the Metro that he is not willing to pin the result solely on his loan star’s shoulders.
“You can’t blame one individual,’he said. “As a team we didn’t function very well.”
Howe instead chose to critique his side’s performance as a whole, continuing: “We didn’t give our attacking players the scope to get into the game.

“We were penned in our half and it’s very difficult for your creative players when that’s the case and I’d include all our attacking players in that.
“We said when we signed Jack we want to get him near their goal and see his creative ability, and I think if you put him in their team, you’d see a different performance from him.”
Wilshere completed just 10 passes against Manchester City after 21 touches of the ball, but the England international will want to become more involved as his loan spell at Bournemouth continues.
