Rangers attacker Ryan Kent already faced a tough chance to make it at Anfield before he left to follow Steven Gerrard.

Ryan Kent is finding out the hard way at Rangers that time waits for nobody.

The Rangers winger is enjoying a strong season so far out on loan at Ibrox.

Yet his chances of making it at Anfield have got a lot harder since he left Liverpool.

This is because of the instant success being enjoyed by Xherdan Shaqiri since signing for the Reds from Stoke City.

Liverpool paid £13.5 million to sign Shaqiri and he looks a bargain.

Playing out on the right wing, Shaqiri has one goal and three assists in three starts for Liverpool so far.

His performances have seen ex-Red John Aldridge label him Liverpool’s best piece of summer transfer business [via The Mirror], even though he was the cheapest.

Liverpool now have a selection headache, with Shaqiri pushing for a starting role amidst an undroppable forward trio of Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino.

With Harry Wilson also excelling and creating headlines for Derby County and Wales, Rangers winger Ryan Kent looks further away from the Liverpool first team than when he left.

This is harsh on the winger because he has made great progress, although the cup semi-final at the weekend showed he still has work to do to improve.

Rangers’ chances of signing Kent permanently might be stronger than ever.
