Liverpool reportedly want Stoke City’s Xherdan Shaqiri.
It is hard to see Xherdan Shaqiri play in the Championship next season, and there is no surprise that the Stoke City winger has been linked with Tottenham Hotspur and Everton among other clubs.
According to TEAMtalk, Tottenham, Everton, West Ham United and Crystal Palace all are interested in the former Bayern Munich winger, who is reported to have a £12 million relegation release clause in his contract.
Liverpool have also been linked with Shaqiri, with The Liverpool Echo reporting that the Reds are considering making a move for the 26-year-old, who earns £65,000 per week as salary according to Spotrac.com.
The Switzerland international has responded to speculation linking him with a move to Liverpool and has also given his verdict on Anfield, the Reds’ home ground.
Shaqiri told Blick, as translated by The Mirror, when asked about Liverpool: “I can’t tell you anything right now, I think my agents take care of my future. I’m focusing on the national team right now.”
When asked about Anfield, the 26-year-old said: “The Anfield stadium is great, definitely.”
Good signing for Liverpool?
Liverpool do have some wonderful attacking players, but signing Shaqiri would not be a bad idea.
The former Inter Milan winger has been a success in the Premier League and also has extensive experience of playing in the Champions League.
However, with the likes of Tottenham and Everton also reported to be interested in the 26-year-old, Liverpool may not find it easy to secure the services of Shaqiri.
