Granit Xhaka has stated on Instagram that it’s ‘impossible not to smile’ when he is around his Arsenal teammate Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

Even though Arsenal were beaten at Manchester City over the weekend, the mood around the club is completely different to the one Mikel Arteta walked into nearly 12 months ago.

One man in particular – Xhaka – was seemingly heading for the exit door after that infamous moment against Crystal Palace, but it has been some turnaround from the combative midfielder.

When Xhaka posted the following Instagram message about Aubameyang, 31, he responded in the comments section by saying ‘my guy’.

Ainsley Maitland-Niles also commented by saying: ‘Enjoy the moment’.

Whilst Arteta is still trying to push Arsenal up the hill, he has made a significant amount of progress during his short time at the club, including winning the FA Cup.

Xhaka has been a key part of that and now he has a new midfield partner to complement his game in Thomas Partey.

Whilst Xhaka has added a sense of calmness and reliability to his game recently, a player like Partey will spice that up in the right ways by pushing the team further up the field with his ability to carry the ball and win his defensive duels.

Nonetheless, Arsenal are in Europa League action tonight, as they take on Rapid Wien in Austria.
