West Ham signed Mesaque Dju in the January transfer window.
West Ham United winger Xande Silva has told the club’s official website that people back in Portugal rate new boy Mesaque Dju highly.
The Hammers were quiet in January, with Samir Nasri their main signing, but they did also land a talented youngster in Dju.
Dju, 19, joined West Ham on a free transfer from Benfica on the 30th of January, and will be attempting to break through at the London Stadium.
Born in Guinea-Bissau, Dju had been with Benfica for nearly nine years, but failed to make a first-team appearance for the club.
He does have nine caps and two goals for Portugal’s Under-20’s, and West Ham will be hoping that they can get the best years of Dju in what could be a bargain move.
Dju’s move comes not long after West Ham brought in another Portuguese winger in Xande Silva, and he has been giving the lowdown on Dju.
Silva noted that Dju is ‘very fast’ and has good technical ability, adding that people back in Portugal speak well of the West Ham new boy, whilst backing him to ‘do fine’ in English football.
“He’s a good player, in Portugal they speak well of him,” said Silva. “A very fast player, with a lot of technical qualities. I think this is a good league for him, and I think he’s going to do very well here, he has to do what they (the staff) tells him and play his football and he’s going to do fine,” he added.
