Former WWE Champion Sheamus has been full of praise for Liverpool’s Roberto Firmino while rewatching his goal against Inter Milan for BT Sport.

The Irish wrestler may be a WWE superstar first and foremost, but he’s also a massive football fan, and his team, perhaps unsurprisingly, is Liverpool.

Sheamus was asked by BT Sport to react to some of Liverpool’s best Champions League moments this season, and he was full of praise for Firmino after his goal in the Round of 16.

What’s been said?

Sheamus labelled the Brazilian as a world-class player who is also selfless.

“Let’s have a look at this Firmino goal, he’s another class player, world-class. A great goal. Firmino again, he’s another, the team itself, they’re all out for the team and there’s no real individuals here, that’s the problem sometimes with great teams, you get world-class players who are only out for themselves,” Sheamus said.

Team player

Sheamus highlights Firmino’s selflessness and willingness to work for the team, and that’s one of his greatest attributes.

The Brazilian has started just 10 Premier League matches this season, and while some players of his talent would kick up a fuss about a lack of football, Firmino has been a consummate professional and given it his all every single time he steps out onto the pitch.

Firmino may not be a key player for Liverpool these days, but if the Reds are to win the quadruple, his contributions to the cause shouldn’t go unnoticed.

Firmino is a modern-day Liverpool legend, and while he may not get to play all that often these days, as Sheamus rightly says, he remains a world-class footballer.
