It feels like WrestleMania 42 is only just behind us, but plans are already being put in place for next year’s Showcase of the Immortals.
Mania 42 saw CM Punk and Roman Reigns face off in the Night 2 main event, arguably putting on one of the best WWE matches in recent memory.
Who Punk will be up against at WrestleMania 43 next year remains to be seen, but plans for who Reigns could face have now been shared, and it may well be The Rock.

Roman Reigns could face Oba Femi at WrestleMania 43
Wrestling insider Self Made Pro, speaking during a Self Made Session this week, has now commented on what they’ve heard about plans for Roman at Mania 43.
As expected, there is talk about a potential match between the former Shield member and The Rock, something that has been teased on WWE programming for many years now.
However, if Dwayne Johnson does not appear at the show for whatever reason, the plan is to put Oba Femi in a match with the current World Heavyweight Champion.
It was explained: “So I talked to someone in WWE, right? There’s a lot of moving pieces right now and they’re still unclear, at least as far as I’m aware, as far as the people I spoke to are aware, I should say.
“Right now, if Dwayne’s not doing Mania, then they’re looking to do Oba Femi and Roman at Mania.”
The Rock’s acting schedule has made it difficult for the People’s Champion to appear at WWE events in recent years, and it is hard to predict whether he will have any role in Saudi Arabia next year.
However, fans may now be more excited at the prospect of seeing Femi given a chance to hang in what, you would assume, would be one of the main event matches at Mania in 2027.
Oba has already beaten Brock Lesnar and is currently competing in the King of the Ring tournament, the winner of which will earn a title shot at SummerSlam 2026.
But if WWE have plans in place for a match against Roman next year, perhaps they will hold off on giving The Ruler a title before WrestleMania 43 rolls around.
