The New York Knicks’ 53-year wait for an NBA championship is finally over after a historic Game 5 win on Saturday night.

WWE superstar Danhausen spent the playoffs leaning into his role as the man who uncursed the Knicks, turning a wrestling bit into a running joke as New York kept finding ways to survive.

Now the joke has reached its natural conclusion. After the Knicks beat the San Antonio Spurs in the NBA Finals, Danhausen congratulated the new champions, declared them forever uncursed and made it very clear that he is happy to take some credit for the banner finally coming back to Madison Square Garden.

Danhausen declares Knicks ‘forever uncursed’ after NBA title win

Danhausen is a popular wrestling figure known for his ‘very nice, very evil’ persona, but during the NBA playoffs, he became one of the faces of the Knicks’ run.

The whole thing started with Danhausen uncursing the Knicks, as New York went on a stunning undefeated stretch after his involvement.

There was a wobble when the Spurs took Game 3, with Danhausen reacting after the loss, but the Knicks still finished the job in five games.

After the title was sealed, he took to X to congratulate the Knicks, writing: “CONGRATULATIONS FROM DANHAUSEN. FOREVER UNCURSED.”

The WWE superstar suggested to Zohran Mamdani that he should receive a statue and tributes across the city for his role in ending the curse.

For most Knicks fans who had never seen the Larry O’Brien Trophy come to New York, they might well agree.
