WTGL has just received a huge boost after it was confirmed that Michelle Wie West will be playing in the competition.

WTGL will mirror the men’s TGL, which features PGA Tour players competing in a hybrid of real-life and virtual golf.

The likes of co-founders Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy have taken part in the innovative venture, which will soon launch a women’s version.

WTGL will get underway in Winter 2026/27, with legendary figure Wie West now confirmed as one of its participants.

WTGL made far more compelling by Michelle Wie West confirmation

Golf fans would not have expected an upcoming WTGL appearance from Wie West, who retired from professional golf in 2023.

Her glittering career included the 2014 US Women’s Open title, with the American boasting five LPGA Tour wins overall.

She also has five United States Solheim Cup team appearances to her name, and is a current investor in TGL side Los Angeles Golf Club.

Who will Michelle Wie West be joined by in WTGL?

Wie West is the latest in a long line of female stars already confirmed for WTGL, which will take place at the SoFi Center in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida.

The custom-built venue is currently hosting the second season of TGL, and will soon welcome the biggest stars of the women’s game.

World number one Jeeno Thitikul has already been confirmed, along with world number three Charley Hull.

Also announced are three-time major champion Lydia Ko and two-time major champion Brooke Henderson, along with fellow high-profile players Lexi Thompson, Rose Zhang and Lottie Woad.

The high-quality field may just have helped persuade Wie West to come out of retirement to play in WTGL, which is certain to attract more star names before it gets underway.

She clinched her one and only major championship win at the iconic Pinehurst No. 2 course over a decade ago, edging out fellow American Stacy Lewis by two shots.
