Manchester City won the Manchester derby with a 2-1 victory at Old Trafford on Saturday thanks to goals from Kevin De Bruyne and Kelechi Iheanacho.
Against City, Mourinho made some huge calls with his starting line-up, giving starts to Jesse Lingard and Henrikh Mkhitaryan as the Portuguese manager looked to gain the upper hand before kick-off.

But like Mourinho, City manager Pep Guardiola made critical changes with Iheanacho, as expected, replacing the suspended Sergio Aguero, but the Spaniard also changed both full-backs, with Aleksandar Kolarov and Bacary Sagna coming in for Pablo Zabaleta and Gael Clichy.
City started off the strongest of the two sides, with intricate passing and looking at times as though they were about to overrun United, and after 14 minutes City got the upper hand when, after Daley Blind hesitated after a knock-on from Iheanacho, De Bruyne finished swiftly to give Guardiola’s side the lead.

City dominated the first 45 minutes and De Bruyne was running riot against a United side that looked lost for ideas and were being pulled from pillar to post, and it was the Belgium midifelder who turned provider as City went 2-0 up on 36 minutes when he hit the post and Iheanacho was in the right place to stroke the ball home.
But with City cruising and United struggling to get a foothold in the game, Mourinho’s side were given a way back in to the game when in the 42nd minute, United sent a free-kick in to the box and Claudio Bravo spilled the ball, allowing Zlatan Ibrahimovic to fire the ball in to the net to halve the deficit.

In the second half United brought on Ander Herrera and Marcus Rashford, which brought about a change in tempo that saw Mourinho’s side have more possession as they looked to get something from the game.
Ultimately though, despite putting City under pressure for periods throughout the second half, United could not find the breakthrough and will feel they should have got something from the game.
But as City left Old Trafford having claimed the win in the Manchester derby, the performance of defender Blind came under the spotlight.
The full force of the disappointment was shown on Twitter as fans voiced their full discontent at the display by the Dutch international.
