Arsenal beat Southampton 2-1 in the Premier League Saturday, but Saints fans weren’t happy about referee Bobby Madley’s decision to give a penalty to the home team in injury time.

Santi Cazorla scored a penalty in injury time to give Arsenal a 2-1 win over Southampton at the Emirates Stadium in the Premier League Saturday. Cazorla, who had dominated the tempo of play all afternoon, calmly slotted home after anticipating that Southampton goalkeeper, Fraser Forster, would go in one direction or the other, and when he did, the Spaniard played to ball down the centre of the goal, to give Arsenal a somewhat underserved win.

Southampton will feel hard done. Claude Puel’s side will believe that they should have left with a share of the points, having put in a battling performance Arsenal.

Puel’s side are in the bottom three having failed to win any of their four Premier League games so far this season, and whilst they can count themselves unfortunate to have left North London without any points at all, it’s something that will start to be causing concern for Southampton fans.

Southampton took the lead in the 18th minute when Petr Cech tipped a Dusan Tadic free kick on to the underside of the bar, only for the ball to hit the Arsenal goalkeeper and go into the net.

But Arsene Wenger’s side drew level in spectacular style when on 29 minutes Laurent Koscielny equalised with an audacious overhead kick, after Cazorla’s corner was failed to be cleared properly.

But with the game heading for a draw, Cazorla settled it from the spot, after Jose Fonte tangled with Olivier Giroud, and was judged to have fouled the Arsenal frontman.
