Luke Shaw has given Jose Mourinho a massive boost ahead of the Manchester derby by declaring himself fit ahead of their Premier League clash this weekend reports The Manchester Evening News.

The defender was forced to pull out of the Sam Allardyce’s England squad to face Slovakia last Sunday, throwing in to doubt his availability for the clash against their fierce city rivals.

The 21-year-old did not receive any injury whilst away with the national squad but returned to Manchester as a precautionary measure after complaining about muscle fatigue, it was determined necessary as the left back has only recently returned from a double leg break suffered in September 2015.

Shaw missed a total ten months out injured, after suffering the serious long-term injury against PSV Eindhoven, and took to Instagram to declare himself fit and ready to face Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City side on Saturday afternoon. Shaw wrote: “Back at it. Derby weekenddd.”

With the game against City being talked about as a crunch clash, with both sides making title challenges at such an early stage in the season, the news of Shaw’s availability may be key to Mourinho’s battle for Premier League glory.

United have conceded only two goals under Mourinho so far this season in an unchanged back line that has seen a number of assured defensive displays by Antonio Valencia, Eric Bailly and Shaw.
