Roy Keane was critical of Trent Alexander-Arnold’s defending during Liverpool’s 2-2 draw against Manchester City in the Premier League on Sunday, as he told Sky Sports.

The moment of play Keane was making reference to was Gabriel Jesus’ goal which put Man City 2-1 up, at the time, and how Liverpool’s playmaker from the right was in the ‘wrong’ body position and ‘not switched on’ to defend the goal.

As the cross came in from Joao Cancelo, Man City’s only bonafide number nine was free as a bird inside the penalty area as he toe-poked his effort first-time into the roof of the net.

Alexander-Arnold could only watch on as his man was putting his team ahead, before Sadio Mane could equalise moments after the break.

Nonetheless, this is what Keane had to say about Alexander-Arnold’s defending in the Premier League title showdown today.

“Brilliant finish and brilliant decision by Pep to play him,” said Keane.

“Again, Trent, the body position is slightly wrong. I am sure Jamie (Carragher) and Gary (Neville) will look at it. Just not switched on.

“The body language. Defensively, he has switched off and it was a brilliant finish.”

In the end, both teams walked away with a point apiece as this Premier League title race, and its possible conclusion, has no clear ending with weeks of the season remaining.

It’s in Man City’s hand because they have the one-point lead, but one game of dropped points could prove to be costly from either side.

It has to be noted that the Merseyside outfit have the better goal difference and next week’s FA Cup clash could also be interesting and possibly game-changing.

There will be a winner in that game, and perhaps, just perhaps, the one who reaches the final has the momentum and lift for the final few hurdles.
