According to reports from Ghana Sports Online, Celtic are plotting a move for Astana’s Patrick Twumasi – though that raises questions about the future of Odsonne Edouard.

The Bhoys spent the summer looking for a forward who could play both out wide and up front, and he finally found one when Paris Saint-Germain winger Edouard arrived on deadline day in August.

Edouard, 19, came highly rated from PSG, but his time with Celtic has been a nightmare so far, with just five appearances to his name in all competitions as he struggles for playing time.

Whilst Edouard still has time to turn things around at Celtic, but links to Twumasi may mean the writing is on the wall for the Frenchman and his future in Glasgow.

Twumasi, 23, scored twice against Celtic in the Champions League play-offs back in August, and his record with Kazakhstani outfit Astana stands at 43 goals in 122 games following his move from Spartaks Jurmala.

A pacey forward with an eye for goal, the Ghanaian forward could be the versatile forward that Rodgers is looking for, challenging Moussa Dembele and Leigh Griffiths in attack whilst also offering a threat out wide if needed there.

Edouard was supposed to fill that role, but his disappointing impact at Celtic Park means that Rodgers may well be eyeing up alternatives, with Twumasi fitting the bill.

If a January bid for Twumasi is made, then the chances of Edouard earning a permanent move to Celtic will be even slimmer – and it may even result in him being sent back to PSG.
