Surely Glasgow Rangers attacker Eduardo Herrera has no future at Ibrox.

If the writing wasn’t already on the wall for Rangers striker Eduardo Herrera, it surely has to be now.

The Mexico international, a £1.5 million signing last summer under Pedro Caixinha, was an unused substitution on Sunday as Rangers thumped Falkirk 4-1 at Ibrox in the Scottish Cup.

Not only was he an unused sub, but 38-year-old Kenny Miller was given a 10-minute cameo ahead of him. Not only did Kenny Miller get a 10-minute cameo ahead of him, but so did Joe Dodoo, the Gers striker who flopped on a half-season loan at Charlton in League One during the first half of the campaign.

It’s hugely unlikely that one of those two will be at Ibrox come August, but the fact that manager Graeme Murty preferred both over Herrera spoke volumes.

The 29-year-old could be forgiven for feeling humiliated over both decisions by Murty and it has never been more obvious that he has no future in Glasgow so long as Murty is in charge – and you can see why.

Despite costing £500,000 more than Alfredo Morelos, Herrera, an unused sub in their last four games, has only managed two goals in 23 matches across all competitions which, for a forward, is a dreadful return.

Being snubbed for Miller was the final nail in Herrera’s Rangers coffin, but Dodoo was the burial of his Gers career.
