West Ham United’s signing of Jordan Hugill remains bizarre.

West Ham United striker Andy Carroll may have apologised to manager David Moyes, as reported by Sky Sports, but his future remains up in the air.
Carroll left the West Ham bench during Sunday’s 4-1 defeat to Manchester City, and was sent home from training on Monday having refused to apologise.
However, the 29-year-old did apologise today and is thought to be back in the reckoning for this weekend’s game against Leicester City, though it remains to be seen just how much Moyes wants to use him.
The official line is that the issue is done with, but Moyes will have been hurt by Carroll’s actions, and may be considering other options for the crucial game against the Foxes.

One option at Moyes’ disposal is Jordan Hugill, who joined the Hammers on deadline day in January having impressed in the Championship with Moyes’ former club Preston North End.
Hugill, 25, has bizarrely played just 22 minutes of Premier League action for West Ham, and with fans questioning just why he was signed, Saturday may be a big indication.
Hugill is a physical, hard-working target man, and if Carroll is still somewhat in the bad books, then the former non-league striker may just get a chance to shine this weekend.
Yet, if Carroll immediately returns to action under Moyes, it may just be a hint that West Ham still aren’t convinced with Hugill yet – and the noises about a summer move may grow stronger if he can’t even figure whilst Carroll’s role is in limbo.
