Aston Villa fans have taken to Twitter in anger after hearing what Jack Grealish told Joleon Lescott about Dean Smith’s side.

What’s the story?

Well, at this moment in time, Grealish has to be careful about what he says – his £100m move to Manchester City is still a cause of pain for some fans.

Sadly, just days after his exit from Villa Park, the 25-year-old has already said something to upset his old supporters.

Speaking to Lescott on YouTube, Grealish explained how opponents won’t be able to double – or triple – up on him like they did when he was at Aston Villa, as he is now surrounded by more quality.

“It will benefit me. At Villa, a lot of stuff went through me. I’d get doubled, tripled up on. Here, they won’t be able to do that because there’s so much talent elsewhere.”

In truth, Manchester City’s new No.10 is just stating the obvious.

He could’ve worded it better, but Grealish is obviously surrounded by more quality now – he’s gone from Bertrand Traore and Ahmed El Ghazi to Kevin De Bruyne and Raheem Sterling, with all due respect to the Villans duo.

As aforesaid, he’s not wrong, but Grealish must take more care with his words.

Currently, his legacy at Villa Park is on thin ice after he left to join Manchester City.

As a result, any slip of the tongue that might be perceived as a dig at the Villans will be met with uproar, similar to the furious responses below.

In our view, Grealish left the club amicably – we’re not quite sure what else he could’ve done to leave with his image intact.

The England international helped get Aston Villa back into the Premier League, and played a huge role in keeping them there.

Now, he has secured his boyhood side £100m – a British transfer record.

Let’s see how the Aston Villa fans on Twitter reacted to his comments…
