Wycombe boss Gareth Ainsworth expects Jose Mourinho to field ‘a real strong’ Tottenham team in the FA Cup tonight, as he told his pre-match press conference.

This is the second time in as many years that Tottenham are locking horns in the FA Cup with the now-Championship side.

They last met at White Hart Lane in 2017 when Tottenham scored two late goals to win 4-3, including a stoppage-time winner from Heung-Min Son.

Ainsworth shared that Tottenham’s £22 million man [BBC Sport] ‘wasn’t probably the superstar he is now’, as he looks back on that match with pride.

“We were the last [away] team to score three goals at White Hart Lane, which is a real privilege for Wycombe Wanderers,” said Ainsworth.

“We were close that day. We didn’t quite finish the job. But, at the end of the game, there were some real big hitters on that pitch.

“And the one who got the winner, Son. He wasn’t probably the superstar he is now. But wow. You can look back and take that sometimes. But I am sure it’s going to be a real strong Tottenham team.”

There’s no doubt that Son is now one of the most feared forwards in Europe and a player at the top of his game.

It could be argued that the versatile attacker walks into all the top teams in Europe given his ability and quality to play across the front three.

Spurs take on Liverpool in the Premier League on Thursday, so it remains to be seen whether Son will start against the bottom-of-the-table Championship side tonight.
