Rio Ferdinand has stated ‘what a signing’ Kieran Trippier has been for Newcastle United during his short time at the club, as he told Vibe with Five.

The Premier League legend claimed that Trippier has scored two ‘massive goals’ for Newcastle.

Last week, he scored a free-kick to help the Magpies beat Frank Lampard’s Everton 3-1 on home soil.

Before he worked his magic from a dead-ball situation at St James’ Park once again over the weekend, this time the winner against Aston Villa.

And Ferdinand is seemingly loving what the England international has already done.

“Wow, wow,” said Ferdinand. “What a signing Trippier has been. Two goals. Two massive goals. wow.”

The only issue facing Newcastle here is that Trippier is now set to be on the sidelines after he broke his foot during that Villa match.

Whilst he has been outstanding out on that pitch for the Magpies, it’s what he provides outside of that which will also be a crucial miss.

From the composure, experience and know-how he brings to those around him and simply being around the dressing room on matchdays.

But Eddie Howe’s side have won three games on the bounce, so it’s not like the players’ confidence is on the floor.

It’s a trip to the capital and a face-off against Champions League-chasing West Ham United next.
