Liverpool fans have been left seriously annoyed after it was reported that Ben Davies has now suffered an injury.
The Athletic claim that Davies missed out on playing for Liverpool last night due to a ‘minor’ fitness issue.
The central defender is the latest in a long-list of casualties for the Reds, with their defence suffering worst of all.
Liverpool are currently without Davies, Fabinho, Jordan Henderson, Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez and Joel Matip, who can all play in central defence.
Fabinho is at least due to return soon, and Davies’s problem isn’t thought to be a severe one.
But, given that Davies barely suffered an injury during his entire time at Preston North End, Liverpool’s fans’ frustration that he is already on the sidelines with them is understandable.
Thankfully for Liverpool they were able to keep a clean sheet even without Davies involved against Sheffield United last night.
However, the 25-year-old may well be disappointed – as if he had been fit, he could well have been handed his debut by now, given the Reds’ persistent struggles in defence since his arrival.
