Well, Liverpool are certainly justified in wanting to sign Cody Gakpo.
The PSV Eindhoven winger is rapidly becoming a major star in European football and earlier in November, it was reported that the Reds were keen on bringing the Dutchman to Anfield [ESPN – as covered by HITC Sport].
Gakpo, who is still only 23, has 13 goals and 17 assists for the Eredivisie giants this season and his form at the World Cup means he is going to be even hotter property in January.
The jet-heeled attacker opened the scoring for his country in fine fashion against Ecuador this evening, firing home from outside the box.
It was a wonderful effort and one that no goalkeeper would’ve stopped, nestling into the corner of the net.

Here’s what Matt Upson said about the goal on BBC Radio 5 Live: “Wow what a strike. Unbelievable finish, talk about take an opportunity that’s just popped out in front of you. Some of the best finishes you see are the ones that are so instinctive and that was exactly that.
“He just smashes it with his left foot, to even see that gap is amazing. The goalkeeper had absolutely no chance. He threw himself at it but there’s no way he was saving that.”
Honestly, Liverpool probably should’ve got this one done in the summer.
He was valued at around £40 million during the summer transfer window and the reality is that he isn’t going to be any cheaper from December onwards, particularly if Gakpo – who opened the scoring against Senegal on Monday, too – continues his fine form on a stage like this.
