West Ham fans have taken to Twitter to react after David Moyes revealed that Declan Rice was “incredibly ill” against Liverpool.
What’s the story?
Well, Rice shone for West Ham before the international break as the Hammers beat Liverpool 3-2 at the London Stadium.
Despite being “incredibly ill” as Moyes claims, the 22-year-old managed to make five successful tackles, more than any other player on the pitch (WhoScored).
Wearing the captain’s armband, Rice also completed 91.2% of his passes, with three of his attempted four long-range balls finding a teammate.
It would’ve been a mightily impressive display for someone in good health, let alone someone struggling badly with illness.
Without Rice, who knows what the score would’ve been.
West Ham have a trooper in Declan Rice

Nowadays, most players probably would’ve made themselves unavailable for the game, but not Rice.
The 27-cap England international slapped some vapour rub on his chest and proceeded to dominate one of England’s best sides for 90 minutes.
That takes some doing, especially for an ill 22-year-old.

Evidently, Rice cares deeply about West Ham, and was willing to put the Irons and his teammates ahead of himself against the Reds.
That’s exactly what a captain should do, and Moyes is extremely lucky to have someone like that in his midfield.
For now, let’s see what the West Ham fans on Twitter have been saying about Rice’s heroics…
